Mark Hillestad and Larry McCune were quite busy today.
Larry checks out the mirror cell for the diagonal flat (6-inch minor axis) installed in its spider mount at the top of the rocker box.
At this stage of assembly, there are no mirrors and no secondary cell in place yet. The end of the scope must be propped up because an important balancing mass is absent – the primary mirror.
With the primary mirror in place on its cell, I’m sure Larry and Mark are taking more care in rolling the instrument around. The diagonal flat cell has been removed while this part of the installation is completed.
