Azimuth Bogey Rocker Design Progress

Azimuth Bearing Bogey Rocker, Perspective View

Notice the cant of the wheels following the azimuth ring that will ride on three of these assemblies.

Last June I posted what turned out to be a first draft of the azimuth supports in the form of Larry McCune’s bogey rocker idea.  We went through a bunch of iterations from that first draft and ended up with a design that Larry is now fabricating. Check the drawings tab for an updated design picture. Naturally, there are three of these – we decided that we needed solid support for the telescope and that the azimuth drive wheel shouldn’t do double duty as a support for the weight of the scope.
